Re: [RC] Owyhee Fandango - update - Steph Teeter

Clarification on parking - everybody is allowed to park near the corrals, it's simply a matter of when you arrive. If some of you want to come early and stake out a parking place you're welcome to. I just wanted to give you all advance notice that there will be a lot of early arrivals (Wednesday) and if you're used to coming a day early and getting your favorite spot, it might be a challenge!

Quick notice - the FEI riders will be coming early (there is a USEF training session on Thursday) and most will be parking by the corrals (the ones set up for rental). There will be plenty of room on the 'other side' of the creek (the area that you first drive into off the road), and there should be plenty of room farther away from the corrals - but it's going to be tight!

So when you arrive - please park carefully (don't spread out too much or block access), and keep in mind that some rigs will be leaving earlier than others, i.e. don't block the access lanes. Look for parking signs when you get here, we'll try to make it easy for everybody!

There are hydrants and hoses around the camp - for people and horse water. Hot showers and *flush* toilets near the house and barn.

I will try to have grass and alfalfa hay for sale (don't know the price yet, I'm still looking). If you know you will want some please tell me in advance.

Blue Canoe Catering will be set up to sell breakfast, lunch and dinner starting Friday morning May 22, through Tuesday morning May 26.

Weather forecast is pretty good - sunny, high temps around 80, lows in the 50's.

It will be dusty on some of the trails - but generally the footing should be good.
There's always rock out there, but most of the trails are pretty decent - pads are advised, but I wouldn't call this a 'rocky' ride.

Maps will be online today! There's a bit of new trail, most of the 100 will be the same as 2008, but there are some sections that will be different.

There's quite a bit of grass (for this part of the country) on the trail, and plenty of water in the creeks. Even some wildflowers. It should be nice out there!
