RE: [RC] re: Trakenhners - mspattykirk

Hi Carol.
My gelding, Texas Lone Star, (Tex) is Anglo-Trakehner/Arabian. His grandsire is
Peron, the highest scoring horse on the '96 US Olympic Team and won a Bronze
medal. His sire is TF Perons Brillance (Brite) who is the only ATS approved
son of Peron. He is the first American Trakehner stallion registered and is
also ranked as a Supreme Stallion with the Warmblood Society. He won the
National Sport Horse Championship in 2005. My mare, Troika is double Bask and
her sire is Eternety. We have done around 375 miles so far. She is a great
little endurance horse. I really love Brite's looks and I thought he would
make a good match for my Troika. So, now I have a really pretty boy and am
looking forward to doing some LD rides with his this year. He drinks very well
on the trails and is very easy to ride, considering he is still a "baby brain".
I am very pleased with the breeding so far. Thanks for your info about Hexey.
Do you still have her? If you do, look into Brite's background. You might
want to think about breeding her.
Patty

Patty,
I competed an Anglo-Trakehner mare, Hexengeist, in competative trail
(ECTRA) for over 15 years. She did very well at all distances including
3-day 100's. She just took a little more work to cool (more water, more
electrolytes). The American Trakehner Association (ATA) even has a
national year-end award for competative/endurance which Hexey won
several times.
By the way Hexey's full sister Friedensgeist was Filly Champion at
Dressage at Devon one year and a many times AHSH/USEF hunter champion.
Obviously I couldn't have afforded to buy them, I just had a really good
TB broodmare that I bred to some good Trakehner Stallions.

Sounds like your guy could do anything you wanted him to.
Carol

I have a half arab /trakenhner gelding that has just turned 4. He was
trained by a dressage trainer and I have been riding him out on the
trails. He's wonderful to ride and I hope to do some limited distance
rides on him later this year. I don't want to push him too fast because
he's still growing. I think the arab-trakenhner cross makes for a great
all around athletic horse. Just my opinion. Happy Trails to all.
Patty
