Once again this area is being hit by enormous fires. Over 300 horses have been evacuated to the Earl Warren Showgrounds which from what I heard this AM also might have to be evacuated. Hundreds of cats, dogs, birds etc are spread out to several shelters. The local Humane Society is asking for donations of food, cat litter etc. If anyone wants to help out here is the link to the local news stations information.

The evac folks at Earl Warren can undoubtedly use $ to purchase hay, and help in feeding and otherwise caring for (I spent a week longing and walking horses during the Painted Cave Fire evac) the evac horses, the number of which will probably grow now that the evac zones have been extended into the Goleta foothills. Earl Warren has 600 stalls . . . and the barns are equiped with sprinkler systems. I have heard nothing about IT being evacuated! -- it is protected on the north (direction of the fire) side by the lushly green Municipal Golf course, and the firefighters are using it as their base camp. Best on-line coverage that I've found during these last few fires is the Santa Barbara Independent:
