[RC] Oats - k s swigart

You asked:

Do you feed whole oats, rolled, ??

I have fed crimped, steam rolled, and hulless oats...and whatever many feed
manufacturers use in their formulations.? Oh yeah, and I have let my horses
graze on wild oats (which grow plentifully on the Southern California
hillsides) and have been known to feed oat hay--both the hay and the wild
growing grass have seed heads on them and my horses have eaten the hay and the
grass during this stage of its development.

What brand?

Eqvalana (?sp?)?makes the hulless ones (which I think have had the bran removed
so they many not have any gamma-oryzanol in them for all I know).
The crimped and steam rolled oats are usually Ace Hi (or Kelley, which is the
same company)
The 4-way (corn, oats, barley, molasses) is usually either Kruse or Ace Hi

I used to use Ace Hi performance feed (until they stopped making it); I have
used Nutrena XTN (which also contains oats) but Nutrena feed dealers aren't
close enough for me to use it regularly, Purina Omalene 200 (which also
contains oats); and Kruse's new Equine Advantage Elite (which also contains
oats).

I don't feed Triple Crown, not because of the Yucca thing, but because it is
ridiculously expensive.
