[RC] Alfalfa-free diet for endurance mule - grannynhorses

My wonderful endurance mule has a chronic allergic skin condition
that so far is only controllable with Prednisolone.  My next plan of
attack (After trying all kinds of things recommended by my vet, UC
Davis, and a naturopathic equine practitioner) is to try to eliminate
alfafa from his diet, to see if that's the culprit.  Anybody have
good results on their endurance horses/mules on an alfalfa-free diet?
What grain or supplements do you use?
