I *wanted* something someone else had trained, hopefully someone who has more finesse than I have. Problem is the really trained horses were wonderful at going directly from a walk to a canter. One was a nice Arab trained by a Paso Fino trainer to trot at the speed of a slow walk. Some of them are so well trained they won't eat with a bit in their mouth. Most are extremely well fed. Their training made them worth more money to *somebody* but some of it was a detriment to their future in endurance.
