Re: Fwd: [RC] Old Pueblo day 2 - rides2farowyheeendurancerides.html), I have found the GPS miles (or google earth hand-drawn track-logs) are about 10%-15% off, always on the short side of things. My training partner and I both use GPS. She is consistently getting over 1/2 mile more than I do on a 7 mile course ridden together that has lots of turns...not so much elevation changes. Mine cuts corners and jumps across the loops. At FITS Saturday I just threw it in Josie's pack and knew it might not get good reception there and may not be accurate...but the first "25 mile loop" GPS'd at 24.6 so I thought that was great, Lynda's probably would have had it dead on 25. Unfortunately, I forgot to stop the GPS at the end of the ride. We were in a hurry to head home and Bill packed the saddle in the back of a trunk (ever hauled to a ride in an Accord?). Got home and pulled it out to see how far she'd ridden and it said "475 miles". Worked fine through the trunk lid...and I was worried about a canvas bag.
