I have to stickup for the greys. If I could clone just one horse, it would be my 29 year old (in February) C F War Hymn, aka Buddy. He gave me a scary ride this morning as he had not been out in two weeks and he became rather competitive on a slippery hill with another competitive horse. I survived to write this message which is a good way to start the New Year. I have had two other greys, HMR Rumadi and Eleusaa, who I also considered superior individuals. I have never had a problem with melanomas so I count myself lucky on that score.
As a child I was told that the Arabs preferred greys as they blended into the desert landscape better than the dark horses who could be seen more easily by the enemy from a distance. Possibly myth, but I still cling to it and my favorite color for an Arabian horse will always be grey. Julie Suhr
