There have been several occasions where the AERC deal
has not been as good as other options. I remember one year where someone
attending the convention walked in at the last minute and got a room for
considerably less that the AERC deal. Of course, you are taking a chance
that there will be no rooms. I find hotels are like airlines...it's what
the price will bear and how anxious the hotel is to book all rooms. It's
also a little like buying a car ....

But to me, it does not make sense that their "deal" to AERC is not as
good as the basic deal someone can get by on line booking. I'd think that who
ever the AERC contact is with the hotel, should at least ask them about
it.
