Re: [RC] A t-shirt and a rock - tomnoll

Steph et al,

"I've seen winners receive thousands of dollars and a new
car. I've seen winners receive a tshirt and a rock"

Very well said. I would much rather ride for a t-shirt and
a rock. In all of our lives, there will come a time when we
would gladly trade the car and the money for one more ride
with our favorite horse.

I think Frank's and my all-time favorite finishing award is
the opportunity to start again the next day. Today I am
thinking of the magic in the morning air when we are warming
up the horses in big circles at the Bates Creek Ranch
waiting for the release to ride another day and another 25,
50, or 100 miles on the Owyhee trails.

Best Regards,

Tom N

Steph,

I believe that Fred Emigh finished a major ride in the
UAE within the last year or two. Fred is a very savvy
rider and savvy competitor as well. I don't follow all
of the posts so someone else may have remembered Fred's
performance.
Also, I was riding along the Snake River last Saturday
and it was beautiful -- pleasant temperatures, good
footing, blue sky, and blue water. I thought of you
and imagined you wished you were there with us. I am
looking forward to some Owyhee rides in 2008.

Best Regards,

Tom N
