RE: [RC] Decline to participate - Bob Morris

If you do not believe that the AERC is supporting the USEF and FEI, just
look at the program for the AERC Awards dinner on Saturday evening:

6:30 - 10:00 PM Annual Awards.
Acknowledgement of 2007 USEF Youth Equestrian Award and Youth Sportsman
Award Winner Kirsten Kimbler.
Presentation of the USEF Maggy Price Endurance Excellence Trophy, sponsored
by Gold Medal Farms will be awarded and the USEF Endurance TOP TEN Seniors
and TOP FIVE Young Riders awards, sponsored by Cypress Creek Equestrian
Center will be awarded.

This is contrary to past policy of the AERC where-in the only awards to be
presented at the dinner were those awards by the AERC for national ranking.

The camel has a bit more than a nose in the AERC organization tent now.

I could give a rat's behind if the US participates or not. That is up to
the USEF. I would just prefer if the AERC completely and absolutely cut
all ties with the USEF to include eliminating joint sanctioning of FEI
rides in the US.

I am not a member of USEF of FEI so I have no dog in that fight. I,
however, am a member of the AERC. It's time for the AERC to cut the cord
IMO.

So it wouldn't mean much if the USA were to
decline an invitation to participate.

There are two fallacies going on in this statement.

The first is, while it may not make a difference to the UAE whether the
USA and their horses/riders participate in the UAE rides, it WILL make a
difference to the USA horses and riders. One does not simply go along
with things that one finds reprehensible because one figures that not
playing isn't going to have any effect on the reprehensible behaviour of
the participants. One refuses to participate in things that one finds
represhensible for the simple fact that one does not wish to be a part
of it, no matter what other people are doing.
