[RC] Riding strategy -- mare in heat at an endurance ride - sherman

Along with everything else, make sure her selenium level is optimum, not just within the “normal” range. My daughter has ridden her mare in rides during heat cycles for a couple/3 years without any hint of a problem. Then she had a major tie-up late last spring even with her selenium well within the acceptable “normal” range, but not the optimal range for endurance horses. It happened during the first 4 slow miles of a conditioning ride and she was in season.
