Re: [RC] riding styles - heidi larson

when I did the 3-day clinic with Clinton Anderson and my
horse Ash, he had us trot and lean like that, forward,
backward, sideways, "act drunk" he said, then we had to do
it at a canter, the theory is, the more relaxed we feel,
the more relaxed our horses will become. We weren't
allowed to hold onto anything but the mane or saddle, no
reins or steering at all. Seemed to help some of the more
nervous horses (like mine.)

I have to say, every time I leaned that far baack on my
Anglo-Arab mare, she tried to scoot out from under me,
did NOT like me leaning back like that.? Don't know if
she would have gotten used to it if I did it more.? If
you try it, be prepared for a reaction.? jeri
