[RC] First Ride after knee replacement - Karen Everhart

Sandy - unless there is newer technology since my replacement in 2002, you might want to rethink a sprint marathon.

I was an avid runner, and did loads of 10k runs, half marathons and even a marathon prior to the car accident which damaged my knee requiring replacement.   I was also fairly young for a replacement; late 40's.

My surgeon said I could go back to running if I was aware of the fact that the unit WILL wear out and have to be replaced much sooner, than if I no longer ran.  This was a HUGE loss for me and I suffered great grief.  BUT, the surgery is something they predict I will need 3 times in my predicted lifetime.  To chose to run, and have 4-5 replacements over the years was just not something I wanted to bargain for.

Just some thoughts from a fellow titanium owner.

BUT, I can ride all I want and it was so wonderful to compete without Loritab to cut the pain enough to make the distance.
