[Fwd: Re: [RC] Colors and markings - what about the greys?] - Keith W. Kibler

I love grays. Half of the horses we had starts on this year (3 0f 6) where grays and all gaited mfts or twhs. Grays come
in all sizes and breeds obviously. Here is a pair with the jr we sponsor post ride;

Do your gray arabians have a propensity for slow growing skin cancer? It is an issue in our world.

Over here in France we bought a 'gris truite' - spotted like a trout - and were told the old saying was 'if you find one, buy him. If he's not for sale, steal him'.

Might not the predominance of grey arabs in endurance be a self-fulfilling statistical cluster blip thing (technical term)? The more greys there are in the sport the more likely the successful horses are to be grey. So more people compete on greys. etc.

What I find so interesting is that while it seems the majority of modern endurance riders ride grey (ie white) Arabs, they don't hardly get a mention in the old sayings, or if they do it's a negative one. And it hurt my heavily roaned (flea-bitten) grey Arab's feelings to hear that he's deemed a "sea of blood". : - P
