Just for grins, I took a gander through the Polish half of Priboj's pedigree, and found numerous lines traceable back as far as the 1810's, and a handful from the decade prior, with the earliest I spotted being 1803.  Not surprising, given that the Poles/Russians had some pretty sophisticated breeding programs back then, and kept meticulous records.
 
So that's almost half a century earlier than Kat's recollection, albeit still not quite as early as some of the earliest "Arab type" roots in TB pedigrees.

I just looked up Priboj in the Arabian Registry and he's a chestnut born in 1944. Shows up in my horse's pedigree twice via Muscat/Sport.
