RE: [RC] Competition - Robert J. Morris

When Diane writes "Nevertheless, in order
for us to discuss this issue cogently we need to agree on a definition
of "competition". Otherwise, we will be discussing different concepts
and that will get us nowhere."

She is forgetting that when it comes to defining a particular term, it is
not the user that makes the decision but the Agency or Land Manager. No
matter how learned or legally correct we may consider ourselves, our
decisions are moot, the Agency's paramount.

Wasting time debating a subject, whose tenure is determined by mainly
political decisions, tempered only slightly by reason and completely ignored
by fact, is a waste of every one's time and energy.

Why not accept the fact that there are certain land areas that are not
welcoming to the use for endurance riding. Consider the immediate; there are
many million acres of available land for endurance riding but very little in
comparison that exclude us.

Is this quest for entry into the established "off limits" Wilderness Areas
"because they are there". I am beginning to think so.
