Re: [RC] Winter Solstice - Diane Trefethen

Good news, everyone! Winter Solstice is almost here --- well, I guess
for the northern hemisphere anyway?

The winter solstice on December 21 is one of the two times each year
when the Sun is at its farthest point from the equator and appears to
stand still. This year, this happens on December 21 at 7:04 A.M. EST
(4:04 A.M. PST)... I don't know about all of you, but I'm ready for longer days.
Carla Richardson

Winter Solstice is my second favorite day of the year (the day daylight savings time starts being the first).
Kathleen

Ah, the day daylight savings time begins, better than Christmas...........mb

Land 'O Goshen! I thought I was the only once who tracked solstices, ST/DST, equinoxes. Do you guys dislike Orion too? As he rises higher and higher, chasing the Pleiads across the sky, I feel a slight sense of depression that our nights are getting longer and colder and our days are getting shorter... till the Winter Solstice when I take heart that he may be high and mighty in the heavens but his influence is on the wane.
