As several have suggested, a frank talk with your county extension service will give you a pretty good idea of where you are in terms of selenium.

The problem for most of us is that we don't know what our hay and water contain. I know some water can be high in calcium, and feeding alfalfa and beet pulp, plus other high-calcium products could lead to stones. I got a copy of our water analysis from the Water Dept., but I don't know how to interpret it in terms of horse needs.
And as in past discussions, it is also impractical for most of us to get a hay analysis.
Oh, well.
