As one who is somewhat prone to Seasonal Affective Disorder (and who has learned to "leave the lights on" in the winter accordingly), I am among those who counts the days until the winter solstice and who celebrates mightily when the daylight begins to return!  Thanks for the reminder!

Good news, everyone!  Winter Solstice is almost here --- well, I guess for the northern hemisphere anyway?
 
The winter solstice on December 21 is one of the two times each year when the Sun is at its farthest point from the equator and appears to stand still. This year, this happens on December 21 at 7:04 A.M. EST (4:04 A.M. PST). The word solstice is derived from the Latin sol, or "Sun," and stitium, or "stoppage." The days are now starting to get a little longer every day.
 
I don't know about all of you, but I'm ready for longer days.
