Re: [RC] US Rider - Laney Humphrey

Yes. It's my understanding that he was not completely reimbursed for expenses that were covered according to the Service Contract. I've written about my experiences here on Ridecamp (in March of this year and after Tevis, 2006). My March conflict with the company resulted in Mark Cole, the Managing Director, cancelling my membership. Looking back, if I were still a member and needed only my truck towed, I'd call on my regular insurance company before calling USRider. Having said that, like Crysta, they sent a locksmith out quickly when my dog locked herself in my car, and except for these 2 incidents, I was really pleased with the service I got. Probably the best way to sum up how I feel about the company is that they choose to get involved in simple problems but find excuses for opting out of more complicated or expensive problems which Dave Rabe's and mine both were.

But read and make sure you understand the Service Contract! Several of us have had less than good experiences with the company. Usually it involves the company's refusal to tow a disabled vehicle that is somewhere other than on the road. In one case, the company refused to reimburse a member of expenses incurred during a horrendous trailer accident. Stuff that, according to the Service Contract, were covered.
So, buyer beware. Generally everyone is satisfied but there are always exceptions and it's a real shock to discover that your need isn't one they want to get involved in when you really need help.
Don't forget that for many vehicle assistance needs, your regular vehicle insurance company will help out too.
