[RC] AZ QH Show - last gallery - merri melde

Last day of the Arizona QH show.

I mostly watched the reining and warmups, and some working cow horse.

And, in another ring, I saw these HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE English riding horses... I asked a few riders, and they were Quarter Horse - Thoroughbred. HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE! The two I asked were 17.2 hands! A big contrast to the usual 14.2 hand Arabs I ride... think of that - that's a foot taller! Very lean, no bulk. Shaped rather oddly.

Not a one of them spooking at anything. And neither did a quarter horse in the middle of his reining pattern, rounding a bend at a flat out gallop, when a little truck backfired like a shot right by the ring. Not a stumble or flinch. My Arabs would have spooked to the next ring while I continued on the rounding trajectory. Pretty solid, these quarter horses.
