Re: [RC] [RC] rain gear?? - Crysta Turnage

AND if you're coming to Convention in Reno, we just opened up a new Cabela's!  It's west of Reno next to the Boomtown Hotel and Casino.  Hubby bought me some Goretex pants for Christmas and they are wonderful.  Haven't used them for riding yet but took them up to the snow several times.  Love those techie fabrics!

I don't intentionally go out in downpours, but if it's cold and I'm wearing my Patagonia fleece or my Land's End fleece jacket, I may get a bit wet after a while, but I'll be warm, unless I made the mistake of wearing a cotton shirt under it. I try not to do that anymore. I have wonderful fleece tights with a smooth outside to keep hay chafe and horsehair from clinging from Evelyn's Tights. All the fleece gear is water repellent, so if it's a brief rainfall or light rain, I hardly get wet.

I did buy a good set of Goretex raingear from Cabela's last year, a hooded jacket and pants, for around $100 each piece with the intentin of using them for riding in heavy rain, but generally it just gets used around here, feeding in downpours or having to do some other outside work that can't wait. I like it better than plastic type of waterproof gear because when I'm done, I just shake it off and it's dry, and I don't get soaked by body humidity when I'm working in Gortex raingear.
