This was indeed an unfortunate incident. The people and horses were not in the trailer, so the damages seem to be limited to the trailer. The truck appears to be undamaged except for melted tail lights. It is only hearsay at this point, but the fire appeared to start in the living quarters where a propane space heater had been left on and the guess is that either the heater failed or something came too close and was ignited. The incident started at 8:30 AM and the fire department arrived within 10 minutes (which seemed like an eternity). It was amazing to see just how fast this trailer was reduced to almost less than a frame. The tires, surprisingly, did not appear to sustain damage. The fire was out by 9 AM. The trailer is obviously a total loss. Presumably, the trailer is insured as well as at least some of the contents. All tack, clothing..anything and everything most of us carry in our trailers turned to ashes. My only comment to all is that we ALL should be very aware of the possible causes of fire hazards by due diligence in maintenance and in never leaving a heater on while someone is not physically present. It could have been worse.
