At the Endure for the Cure ride held at H. Cooper Black State Forest in
South Carolina last weekend, ride management explained how the Sand Hills
Ride in mid-March each year falls during tax season, a difficult time of
year for two of the ride management team who work as tax accountants.

Based on feedback from the everyone there, ride manager Patsy Gowen wants to
spread the word that although that the 2-day Sand Hills ride will be held as
planned on March 21-22, 2009 (although they would appreciate extra help if
anyone would like to volunteer for ride secretary duties!) beginning in
2010, they are planning to shift their management of the 2-day ride to
November (same timeslot as current Endure for the Cure ride).

Patsy wants to encourage another ride manager to take over the mid-March
Sand Hills timeslot for 2010 and will be glad to lend them a hand in doing

For anyone not familiar with the Sand Hills area, there are 6 separate
permanently marked loops ranging from 13 to 24 miles. Very little repeat
trail is needed even for a 100 or two day ride. The H. Cooper Black rental
rate will increase to $1600 per day in 2010, but this facility has tons of
amenities - an arena, barn and lots of pipe corrals for your horses, two
bath houses, a heated building with kitchen where the ride meetings are held
and electric and water hookups for rigs - and usually a really big turnout
for both days.
