They aren't pony ring mounts. Their behavior there showed their level of conditioning and picked up what the other horses are doing, since they are HERD and prey animals. They are excited about racing because they are RACE horses and they race 100 miles!! Go visit the Kentucky Horse Park and see the retired race champions there or read some books about them . Watch race horses at the track. And, if you don't think 3 day event horses don't get "hot" when super fit, you don't know much about eventing. All the above mentioned horses are/were exceptional athletes and they have their own character too. They aren't/ weren't expected to be robots and their eccentric, and even bad behaviors, are/were somewhat tolerated because of what they can/could do as athletes. Thank you USA Team.
