Fwd: RE: [RC] 100's - Lucy Chaplin Trumbull

I'm forwarding this for Don as it bounced when he sent it himself:

The first time I got to steer a horse with my feet was 100 miler and
last time I steered a horse with my feet was on a hundred miler.

Trotting in the dark on single track is like riding on Space Mountain,
you can?t see the track nor the turns, you can only trust the horse,
and that comes with a hundred miles.

My first 5 hundreds were on a great horse named TR Whyatt and my
last 7 hundreds, since his fall off the Tevis trail, were on an incredible
horse who is mechanically lame named Willy, the flying horse, one of
them being the Tevis.

My best and worst rides have been on hundreds; I wouldn?t change that
for anything.

The toughest part about doing a hundred is getting there - not my saying.

Check out some of my hundred-mile stories in the archives.
