I can only speak from my personal experience and opinions but if it came
down to my children eating or my horses, I will cry a lot and rant a lot and
in the end I will have my horses put down as humanely as I can manage. I
love my horses but in the end I love my children more. Ideally I would be
able to find perfect lifetime homes for them but in this market its very
unlikely, one is a very difficult to deal with mare and the other is a very
spooky gelding. I hope none of us ever has to make a decision like that.
