[RC] Hard headed horses - philosophy differences - Kristi Schaaf

When she moves an inch, immediately take up the slack. Keep as much tension on
the ropes as possible (i.e., wrap them around your forearm and lean hard),

This is the COMPLETE opposite of what I believe in. Every good trainer I've
ever learned from has drilled into my head that "it's the release that
teaches". You ALWAYS give a release when the horse tries at all (and sometimes
that try is as small as the flick of an ear). If you build on those tries,
eventually you have a horse that will be willing to try just about anything for
you. It may take longer in the beginning, but in the long run you actually get
stuff done faster.
