RE: [RC] NC and Race of Champions - heidi

Steph, I don't argue the validity of the NC ride as an important event, and I think it is good to have it, as a portion of our membership does like to compete in a one-ride championship.  I am also glad that it recognizes an individual winner now--that is long overdue.

That said, it still DOES NOT replace the overall championship--which required riders to keep their horses sound and healthy ride after ride, all season long.  THAT is the championship that typified our motto that "To Finish is To Win"--not a one-ride event.  Please see my previous post.

A couple comments. I think the AERC NC is an important event, and is
becoming more prestigious and ROCish each year - it draws some of the
top riders in the country. And I'm glad the AERC is finally
recognizing an overall winner instead of just weight division
winners.
