[RC] Completion rates - Diane Trefethen

While completion rates are rarely reported by weight division, the results of the 100 mile NC may provide some insight into new questions to ask with respect to how we treat our horses.

There were only 2 each Juniors and Unqualified Sponsors so not of any statistical value.

      Start Complete %Completion
FW 8 4 50%
LW 17 11 65%
MW 10 8 80%
HW 6 5 83%

Two possibilities (you come up with more)
1) The lighter the weight of the rider, the less careful they are because they are depending on their weight to minimize any problems
2) Lighter weight riders know they have an advantage so they skimp on their conditioning protocols thus bringing to races horses not as well prepared as those of heavier riders.

Whatever the CAUSE, the FACT is that each division's completion rate increased as the weight of the riders increased.
