I don't feel like I failed. I feel very good about my decision.
After I pulled, several people congratulated me on making that
decision. That meant much more to me than completing on a marginal
horse. I don't think you should need an incentive like that to keep from
pushing your horse beyond his capabilities. Besides, I feel I'm in good
company after being at Tevis last year when Stagg Newman did an RO pull because
his horse just didn't seem right.
