Re: [RC] braids - heidi larsonwhen I rode my other horse with a thinner, shorter mane, I rarely braided. My current horse has a super long and pretty thick mane so I braid, for heat and because if I don't braid it gets under the edge of my saddle and gets pulled/broken. I also have a tendancy to pick up some mane hair when I shorten my reins. For fun though I do switch it up and do fat braids, lots of thinner braids, lattice work type, etc! Hey, I might as well enjoy all that hair since it is alot of work! . o o o o o_ \ \____ o_ \_\ (*)~(*)\_______/ / \ \______/ / \_______/\ /- o-- /_/ \ / / \ / / o o o-- / / \ o o heidi larson --- On Thu, 7/31/08, Rick Jackson <am2aracehorse@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Rick Jackson <am2aracehorse@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [RC] braids To: "ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thursday, July 31, 2008, 5:34 AM This may be silly and I stand at the ready to have my chain yanked and leg pulled. I note at several of the rides?I have attended about half of the horses will have their manes braided. I have a black and white paint that puts on a pretty thick winter coat. I?am not able to blanket him/pull blanket off so I don't shave him. Do the braids actually help the horse cool or are they strictly for looks? By the way,? he looks pretty darn good with a set of braids! ?Rick As for me and my horse, we shall serve the Lord.
