Yep if you feed too much protein, the digestive system rips off the amine radical and eliminates it through the urine. That forms the ammonia. I have not ammonia smell in my trailer or my barn. As far as shaving in the trailer, I use the "large" shavings - the local tack stores has two sizes. The small are like sawdust and would blow around in the trailer. The large don't have that problem.
