The hay farmers around here , just go out and fluff it the next day or two even if it gets rained on. It will turn yellow, but it can be redryed and baled safely. IT will lose some vitamins,sbut will still have the protein /fiber content. And this is the SE, where the humidity is 60--90 % alot in hay season.
It does need to be dryed properly to bale, but otherwise it whouldn't be a total loss. Call and see if he can fluff and baled it .......
