My one horse study:
 
My horse pees in the trailer, but he doesn't drink.  I stop and let him out IF I find a safe bare piece of ground next to a fast food restaurant, so "I" can eat and pee around the 4-5 hour mark of a trip.  I always put a fresh bucket of his home ranch water in front of him, but I never see him drinking out of it.  Just to relax for 13-30 minutes helps my mind, and I bet it helps his.

Good point, Karen.  Luckily, ours have no problem peeing the in the trailer so that isn't an issue for us (except at cleaning time .. . . yuck.  lol)
