My sources say that the Auburn Dam plan is very
close to becoming decommissioned anyway.
Long live the Western States Trail! Currently the members
of the Western States Endurance Run board and WS Trail Foundation have a bill in
the U.S. Senate to dedicate the trail, and its side routes, as a national
historic and recreation trail.
The very informative recent documentary called "They
Crossed The Mountains" substantiates the history of the trail beginning with the
Washoe and Maidu Indians, gold miners and up through current day use by
runners and riders.
