[RC] cow hocked and club foot - June Scheunemann & Mike Bernsdorf

Ok I've had both....one mare was slightly cow hocked.....and did wonderfully.  Yes, I got her when she was young and the more in shape she got the straighter the hocks.  My second mare I raised from a baby....she was club foot and we did end up having her check ligament cut.  Now she is more up right but, we keep her trimmed routinely and this mare has NOT taken a lame step due to any "weakness" in that leg.....yes she was lame when she trotted out tripped on a rock in the trot out area and knocked her fetlock hard...took 3 lame steps and she got pulled...fair pull???  not in my book cuz everyone standing there heard her hit herself...but, vet said nope your done.....so 10 min later she was sound as a dollar.  Crap happens but, my point is the pull was not due to the club foot.  She has stayed sound since....has done many competitive rides and also fun trail rides and dressage!!!  Each horse is such an individual that saying club footed will not make them a good horse.  That would be like saying only feather weight riders are good riders and only they can do endurance.  (which we know is a false statement).  Just my experiences.
