Re: [RC] horse question - Lori Bertolucci

Rozalynne, I have a friend that had a Morgan mare that was exrtremely club footed one one hoof. She trained with me all the time, and the mare had a trot to die for! The only reason she isn't riding this mare now is because my friend broke her ankle, and needed a smoother gaited horse...can you say Fox Trotter?
She sold the mare, and the mare is now doing lower level dressage.  :)

Just make sure you trim the hoof as it grows, don't try changing it...or he will be lame.

Howdy,
I asked you a question previously about Melanoma.  I have another question about the same horse.
I am in the process of buying this horse over the phone that I have seen twice.  I noted that he had shoes only on the front and asked if there was a problem.  The owner said no, it was simply for arena riding (which I have no clue about).  I also asked if one of his front feet was a club foot and the owner said no way.
Well, in writing up the agreement, they noted that the horse has a club foot.  I am emotionally invested in this guy since summer and so excited to get him here?. But now I am a bit defuddled.
I did bring this up with the owner who swore that it is only a cosmetic problem in the show ring and will not affect his performance.  My husband agreed and sent them the down payment which we did, but I am still struggling with spending too much money for a horse that may never be able to do endurance riding.
I am a one horse owner and want a forever friend.  I love this guy but struggle with what to think about this foot deal.
Please let me know what you think,
Thanks,
Rozalynne
