I used to work with Sandra Calkins who wrote the
curriculum on eohippus for the Hagerman Fossil Bed
Education Center in Idaho.  Ancient horse ancestors
may have migrated by land bridges but at some point
after the continental shift there was an event or
climate sequence where they died out until
re-introduced by the Spanish new world explorers. If
you are travel on hwy 84 through Idaho and need to
take a break it is a neat exhibit especially if you
have scientific oriented kids with you.
