For a horse with a healing injury, yes.  But not for a horse that is dissipating heat after an endurance ride!  Lynne is right on the mark with this.  Saran wrap or any kind of a sweat does more harm than good in the initial phases of either post-work or injury, when the goal is to reduce inflamation and remove heat.  If you have edema the day AFTER a ride and want to use a sweat, that might be appropriate.  But post-ride, you're doing waaaaaay more harm than good!

Ummm..that is exactly the point, Lynne, is to sweat the leg to reduce the edema!  And it is not put on for hours it is a short 2-3 hour period.  The legs are then cleaned and painted and left sanding as is without wraps.  And, yes, you have to absolutely know what you are doing.
