Not a stupid question at all!  If you can't ride well, your horse can't 
move well.  Do you live near enough to any large saddle store to go 
spend a few hours trying different saddles to explore the differences in 
how they fit you?  I went to the Arabian Saddle Co. website & noticed 
the Rubicon saddle which they say is designed for endurance.  Maybe it 
would fit differently.  I'd also try saddles made by other companies. 
To me, it's the length of your thigh and calf that determine how an 
english saddle fits. There is absolutely no consistency among saddles 
which makes finding one that works really hard.
