RE: [RC] OLD HORSES - Kitley, Carrie E Civ USAF AFSPC 30 MDSS/SGSLF

Exactly, Barbara. Same goes for horses, in my observation. I have a 35 year
old Leopard Appy that I rescued recently from a gal who was going to put him
down because she didn't want to take care of him anymore. In her eyes, he was
worthless. He has mild arthritis, she had him on Bute, all kinds of weird
overkill stuff, etc. He now gets the normal Sr. horse goodies, but isn't
medicated anymore. Since I've had him, all his 'ailments' have gone away and
when I turn him out, he literally smiles, bucks, farts, and gallops around the
arena. All he did before was stand around in a tiny corral. Arthritis aside,
if he could, I'm sure he'd be a fabulous trail horse again and happy to be one.
:)

I'm half way through my 70s. If I rest, then I'm dead. Exercise and activity,
and brain exercise in particular, will keep any animal (including humans) alive
and fit and mobile for longer than resting will. Rest when needed, keep moving
the remainder of the time.
