While I'm sure your mare appreciates the less weight, I'd submit there are a lot of other factors in this question.  Are you able to ride more athletically at the new weight?  That may have more to do with your horse's recoveries than the actual weight itself.  Likewise, some people just don't stress a horse as much, weight or no weight.

And I have a question along the same lines. I remember Truman writing
that the same horse over the same terrain had vastly better recoveries with
his petite wife up than the horse had with the lean (but not 105 lb)
Truman up.

I have managed to drop 25 lbs and have about 10 lbs to go. I'm not sure I
see any change in either of my horses. The primary horse is a 14.3 TWH,
maybe weighs 800 - 900 dripping wet. The second is a 13.3 Icelandic mare -
no clue what she weighs, but appropriate weight for a pony that size.

Would you expect a horse to have better recoveries carrying 25 - 35 lbs
less?
