Re: [RC] The LD thing - Truman PrevattAt the FL Classic in '96 we had the opposite case - the LD's were less expensive by quite a bit since we hired half day vets to take care of the peak load. We were able to get the cost down per rider in each distance by the judicious use of half day vets to manage the peak load. I had all out checks so this included breaking vets out to go back to the finish - and then home. While I agree that the LD fixed cost is close to the longer distance fix cost - I think there are rare circumstances where they are exactly the same or should I say where they have to be the same.If I run a ride again which is highly unlikely (after some experiences with trail vandals, jerk land managers and idiot riders pushing horses too hard for the conditions and crashing them) the charge will be based on the cost involved for each event and let the riders choose.
