We do that in the NW. See http://www.endurance.net/organizations/pner/awards.html. Most of the awards are all together, some of them only apply to 50’s and up, some  only to 100’s, yet others to very specific things like gaited horses. Occasionally, an LD-only rider will win something, somewhat more often an LD ride serves to give a small boost.

Nothing precludes you from having awards that only include one class of rides or another. We already do that with multi-days, and have a special award just for that. The only downside I see to a lot of awards is that the banquet seems to go on forever.
