Your are right and I have for the 25yrs on Mt Diablo until the goverment stole the land. Land management is a complicated issue, however if it isn't broke don't fix it.

If you want to see how beautiful land can be with cattle grazing on it, do the Lost Padres ride on Santa Margarita Ranch.  They move their cattle to prevent overgrazing and most of the pastures are covered with beautiful grasses and very few, if any, noxious weeds are around.
I've done it for the last 2 years and love riding among the big, beautiful, and mellow cows!
