RE: [RC] [RC] Rules question?? - heidi

Lynelle, there is no AERC rule requiring you to stay in camp the night before the ride--any such rule would be a local "add-on" by ride management, and as such, would have to be publicized in advance.  That said, do contact the ride manager directly, and tell him/her what you are planning--they may want you to go ahead and haul over to vet the night before, or they may be fine with just having you coming to the ride meeting without your horse the night before and bringing your horse early enough the next morning to vet in before you tack up.  But ride managers do like to be aware when riders are planning to do something like that, so that they (and their vets) can be expecting it.

Heidi

I looked through the aerc rules hand book and did find a reference to my question. So, I thought I would as the experts. I live about 17miles from the next ride. "Gold country 30/50 July 5th Georgetown. After you vet in with your horse do you have to stay? I hate camping and would rather sleep in my own bed. I would arrive with my horse tacked up say 30 min before the departure time. Is that allowed? There are several rides in both Placer and El Dorado counties that are a very short drive it seems senseless to have to spend the night if you do not have to.
