I don't mind "behind" - that is part of the sport. A horse
so close so as to nearly clip my horse's heels or bite
him/her in the butt is too close and I don't care if we are
walking.

But surely you were not suggesting in your first post on the subject
about being sure to ASK PERMISSION to ride behind somebody that you were
suggesting that riding so close as to nearly clip a horse's heels or
bite its butt is okay as long as you ask permission before doing so????
