Re: [RC] 2 day 100 - Truman Prevatt

The two day 100 made a lot of sense during the days of the ROC. It makes less today and the number of starts show it. The only reason I can see is it might be easier to top 10 a 2 day 100 than to top 10 two 50's back to back. However, most of the two day 100's don't have 11 starters so the points you would get would be reduced.

However, if you are running a two day ride anyway might as well offer one.

*/Here,s a good one for all you folks that seem to know stuff. Some rides in the NE region will offer a 2day 100 AND a 50 50. What,s up with that???? The only difference I can see is on a 2 day 100 you have to pay up front for both days and if you don,t finish the second day you lose your money and get 0 credit for the whole ride. On a 50 50 you can enter a day at a time & if you don,t finish the second day you get your miles or award for the first day. The horse does the same work & the points are the same as far as I can figure. I always thought it was a bit bizarre. A rose is a rose, but maybe there,s something I,m missing. I wonder if any other regions do this.
I think a 50 50 is easier than a 1 day 100. You & the horse get to rest all nite before going on to second half of the ride. I loved 100,s the best, it,s the ultimate of endurance. Judy/*
